We are currently looking for an Asset Engineer - Electrical for Doha, Qatar.
Mission:
Reporting to the Asset Manager, the Asset Engineer – Electrical is responsible for the technical asset management, condition, reliability, performance, and lifecycle optimization of electrical assets across wastewater treatment plants and associated O&M facilities. The role supports asset management strategy through asset data management, condition assessment, reliability analysis, maintenance optimization, failure investigation, lifecycle planning, and identification of renewal and replacement requirements.
Responsibilities:
Asset Management & Lifecycle
• Develop and implement electrical asset management plans in line with the overall asset management strategy.
• Manage the lifecycle of electrical assets from acquisition, installation and commissioning through operation, maintenance, refurbishment, replacement and disposal.
• Maintain accurate electrical asset registers covering identification, location, condition, criticality, maintenance history, performance and lifecycle information.
• Assess asset health, remaining useful life, criticality and replacement/renewal requirements.
Electrical Reliability & Maintenance
• Monitor LV/MV switchgear, MCCs, transformers, generators, UPS systems, batteries, electrical panels, motors, power distribution, lighting and earthing systems.
• Develop and review preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies for critical electrical assets.
• Analyze failure history, downtime, maintenance records and recurring faults and recommend reliability improvements.
• Support condition monitoring and predictive maintenance programs for critical electrical equipment.
Failure, Risk & Performance
• Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major electrical equipment failures and monitor corrective actions.
• Monitor availability, reliability, failure frequency, downtime, MTBF, MTTR and maintenance cost.
• Identify obsolete, deteriorated, underperforming or high-risk assets and recommend refurbishment, replacement or renewal.
• Identify electrical asset risks and develop mitigation and improvement plans.
Projects, Procurement & Technical Support
• Provide technical input for procurement, replacement, refurbishment, upgrading and commissioning of electrical equipment.
• Review electrical specifications, datasheets, drawings, technical submissions and commissioning documentation.
• Coordinate with Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure asset requirements are incorporated into maintenance programs.
• Coordinate with OEMs, suppliers, contractors and specialist service providers regarding technical issues, warranties and asset performance.
Asset Data, Reporting & Improvement
• Ensure electrical asset data, technical records and maintenance history are accurate and current in the CMMS, ERP or Asset Management System.
• Support lifecycle cost and Total Cost of Ownership assessments and prepare asset renewal/replacement forecasts.
• Prepare reports on asset condition, reliability, risks, failures, maintenance requirements, replacement priorities and lifecycle costs.
• Promote continuous improvement in electrical asset reliability, maintenance strategies and lifecycle performance.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Typically 5–8 years of relevant experience in electrical asset management, maintenance, reliability or engineering.
• Experience in wastewater treatment, water utilities, infrastructure, industrial plants or O&M is preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical maintenance, reliability, condition assessment and lifecycle management.
• Experience with CMMS, ERP or Asset Management Systems.
• Strong analytical, technical reporting and problem-solving skills; fluent English.
